Williams College

SAT/ACT 75th Percentile: SAT 2300; ACT 34 

Sanctioned in 1793, Williams was the twenty-first foundation of higher learning in the previous British provinces and the second in Massachusetts. Purple was picked as the school's shading when, in 1865, the College's baseball group was leaving for Cambridge to play against Harvard, which had picked its own particular shading (maroon at the time). Two female supporters of the Williams group rushed to discover imperial purple lace to provide for their own particular players and, the day after Williams won, regal purple flew from the grounds masthead. Williams was named the #1 National Liberal Arts College by U.S. News & World Report.
